TripActivator will isolate an appliance in the event of a fire by tripping an RCD when the smoke alarm goes off.

Currently smoke alarms only alert a resident in the event of a fire.

There is a time delay to allow the resident to reset the alarm in the event of a false alarm

The TripActivator’s patent was completed at the time of Lakanal Tower block fire, which was caused by a TV catching fire, resulting in the death of six people, at the time a DVD of the TA was sent to Camberwell Council explaining how a lost TA could have prevented that fire.

The TA would also have helped in the Grenfell Tower fire which had a refurbishment costing £8.7m in 2016.

The TripActivator costs around £30 each, a small price to pay which can save many lives.
